If you’ve ever lived a bit of barefoot farm life, you’ll know…splinters aren’t a “maybe” — they’re a when! 😅
Last Friday afternoon, while feeding the chooks, I copped one of the worst splinters I’ve had in a long time.
Not a little surface one either…This thing was deep.

When You Can’t Get It Out
I tried the usual:
checking if I could grab it
seeing if soaking might help
Nope. It was buried deep in my foot! If you’ve ever had one like that, you’ll know —👉 they throb, they swell, and they don’t let you forget they’re there.

🌿 Reaching for the Old Faithful
So I did what I always do…
I reached for my Sweet Earth Drawing Goo.
For the next few days, I kept it simple:
Clean the area
Apply the balm
Cover with a breathable bandage
And let nature do its thing.
Trusting the Process
By about day four, I could see it had worked its way up.
It was sitting right under the surface…but just not quite breaking through.
So I added a little old-school wisdom into the mix 👇.
🥔 The Potato Peel Trick
I sliced a thin piece of potato skin, added a layer of drawing balm, placed it over the spot and covered it overnight.

Next morning?
👉 The splinter had breached the surface.
The Final Result
Out came the tweezers…
…and I pulled out what honestly felt like a bloody tree stump 😂🌿
Immediate relief.
🌿 Why Drawing Balms Work
Drawing balms have been used traditionally to:
Help draw out splinters and foreign objects
Support the skin’s natural detox process
Soothe irritation
Encourage the body to push impurities to the surface
They don’t “force” the skin —👉 they support what your body is already trying to do
A Staple in Our Home
Living on the farm, this isn’t a one-off.
Splinters, bites, little skin flare-ups…👉 this is the product we reach for every time.
It’s one of those things you don’t think about…
Until you really need it.

🌿 Final Thoughts
Sometimes the best solutions aren’t the harshest or the fastest —they’re the ones that work with your body. Keep one in your home, your shed, or your first aid kit — because when you need it… you’ll be glad you have it.
Simple. Natural. Effective.
Just the way it should be.
From paddock to jar. From jar to skin. From ritual to remedy. That is the Sweet Earth way.
