Warming Winter Vanilla: A Cozy DIY Body Butter Recipe

There’s something undeniably comforting about the scent of vanilla in winter. Unlike spicy, invigorating blends that awaken the senses, vanilla is grounding, soft, and soul-soothing—like wrapping yourself in a fluffy handmade quilt or sitting beside a wood fire on a quiet night.

Infusing real vanilla bean into a beautiful plant oil and turning it into a body butter is next-level comfort. It’s an act of slow beauty and nourishment, sealing in hydration while wrapping your skin in the gentle aroma of vanilla bean and coconut.

Today, we’ll start with a simple vanilla-infused oil—a decadent yet easy base that you can use as-is or whip into your own Warming Winter Vanilla Body Butter.

Vanilla-Infused Oil

A deeply aromatic and multi-use infusion that captures the magic of real vanilla in a nourishing, skin-loving base.

You’ll Need:

✔ 1 fresh vanilla bean

✔ ¾ cup Jojoba oil or Apricot Kernel oil

✔ Double boiler

✔ Clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid

Method:

  1. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the soft, fragrant paste (known as the “caviar”).

  2. Chop the remaining pod into 1–2cm pieces and add both the paste and pod to your double boiler.

  3. Pour in the carrier oil and infuse gently over very low heat for 3–4 hours, keeping the warmth steady and calm.

  4. While still warm, pour into a clean glass jar and seal.

  5. Store in a warm, dark space for 1–2 weeks, giving it a shake every couple of days.

  6. Once the scent reaches your liking, strain into another clean jar.

You now have a golden, vanilla-scented oil perfect for body massage, ritual bathing, or face oils (if your skin loves it).

  5. Spoon into jars and label with love.

Makes approx. 420ml total. Perfect for gifting… or hoarding for yourself. 😉
